Frequently Asked Questions

How is the painting made?

Paintings are made entirely by hand. I use a tablet the allows me to paint directly onto my computer using a brush/pen. The final result is a fully hand made painting that you have the option to print at any size you’d prefer and on any surface.

What is the process?

After we both agree the image or pose to use I’ll start work. When complete I’ll email you a digital file for approval first. We can then make any changes at this stage. When you have confirmed you are happy with the final proof, full payment is required. Once payment has cleared I'll send artwork off to be printed, framed then posted to you.

How long will a commission take?

Please allow around 8-10 weeks for the whole process. The portrait itself varies depending on the complexity. If your portrait is for a gift and you need it quickly please let me know when commissioning. Professional framing and delivery takes around 10-14 days.

Printing?

I work with two specialist fine art printers who are fully experienced in printing and framing.

Fine art giclée prints use archival inks, which have a no fading lifetime guarantee.

What am I buying?

You are buying a commissioned illustration. I suggest printing on Fine art Hahnemühle paper and framing it as I feel it enhances the portrait the best. There are different size options. Also a Fine art Print only option if you prefer to frame yourself.

I'd like a greeting card, mug or coaster?

A commissioned painting is required first and foremost if you require any giftware items. Once you have that done I can give you prices on all of those options.

I'd like my art on Canvas?

In my opinion some detail is lost on canvas, but we offer a variety of options including Canvas Prints, Museum Float Frames, Plexiglass, Deckled Edged Prints etc. I can walk you through all of these and their prices, which aren't all on the prices page.

Is my deposit refundable?

Unfortunately, the $100 deposit is non-refundable. I have been let down in the past so want to ensure that you are serious about commissioning me.

How do I pay?

I accept payment by direct bank transfer or PayPal. The invoice you receive from me includes details for making a bank transfer. Please note that PayPal does require an additional, small processing fee.

How will my project be delivered?

Both framed and/or mounted prints are sent by courier, carefully packaged. We have never had an issue with breakage. This is not a guaranteed next day service, but orders usually arrive quickly. Please allow 10-14 days to be on the safe side.

It’s a gift, can you post directly to my recipient?

Yes of course, please just let me know the address and name.

Can I make changes to my painting?

Yes, a painting will not be finished until you are completely happy with the digital draft. However, if you require a complete re-design of the image this may incur additional fees.

What if I don’t like my final framed piece?

I always send you a digital preview of your completed portrait, prior to sending the artwork to the printers. However if you are really unhappy, I just ask that you post me the piece, fully packaged so I can offer you a refund.

Do you offer your design services for non-portrait commissions?

Yes! I can work on a variety of projects. Illustrations for Childrens Books, Commercial Animation, and Logo Design are all projects you can contact me about.
